Merry Christmas

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I hope your holiday was great and spent with family and or friends. I hope you also got everything you asked Santa for. Besides me being home from work with the flu, that I did NOT ask for. I got more than I needed for Christmas. Here is my Christmas haul:
All this fabric I had bought from Ozark Fabrics on FB, got quite a bit of it for $1.00 and $2.00 a yard. I saved all the boxes I got in December and we put them under the tree. They are all piled on top of a piano bench, and the shortest pile is 13 inches tall. From left to right, I have the pink, red, orange, yellow and greens. Then the turquoise, blue and purple, then brown, Christmas  novelty. then grey and black n whites. Then the last stack on the right is all Jason Yenter fabric. Then there is a fat quarter bundle, a jelly roll, and a fat quarter pack with 2 rulers on top of it all. Now comes the challenging part.............where to put it all!!! I told my husband NO MORE FABRIC! He said he would have to agree, but it also isn't fair because now he isn't going to know what to buy me from now on. Oh yeah, I also got a 40 yard roll of batting to go with all this yummy fabric. The shelves are all over flowing now, need more time to sew.

Beginning of Easy Street

Well have you heard??? East Street has begun. I finally picked my fabrics, it was kinda easy since they were all in a pile on the table already, just needed to add a constant color to it. Can't remember what I put all these together for before, but since they never got used.............now they are. They were taking up tabletop space.
Here are a pile of twosies waiting to be upgraded.............
into 4 patches. This is two stacks of 25. One at a time, I am getting there. Or should I say, 25 at a time I am getting there. Dinner time now, more sewing afterwards.
Here are the photos of some other sewing I have been doing. This top has been sitting around for almost 2 years waiting for the blocks to be sewn together, done!
Then I took the stack of leftover fabrics and started sewing them together to make a back. Another pile of the tabletop! The back is realllllllllllllllllly long, so I will cut that fabric up into strips and squares for the organized scrap bins.
and yes another box of fabric has arrived from Tonya, have you checked out her fabulous prices on her facebook page yet.............CLICK HERE TO SEE      just go there and join on in the fun and tell her I sent you. Click on the photos tab, and then each picture has others in it, click to each separate one and see if you can get any at a great deal. There is lots of competition, and you have to be quick sometimes. But it is worth it. They will invoice you once a week, and you can either have each invoice shipped, or become a Large Flat Rate Box CaTeer, and have the box shipped when it is full, around 25-35 yards or so. This is what was in the last box I got.

Oh and these Panda's.........there was almost an all out war for these guys! I was glad when she ordered another bolt!!! Aren't they adorable?!?!

My camera battery died, and as I came downstairs to plug it in, there was a box in the hallway. My quilt has arrived home from AMY's and Panto'd out!!!! Woo Hoo, it is ready for binding now. It looks AWESOME! Thanks bunches girl, thanks, thanks, thanks again!!!

FNSI

Friday Night Sew In...............I don't get to do that too often, for some reason I usually miss it. Well I got to sew last night, woo hoo, finally!!! I finally got the border on my pink n orange quilt, then got 2 of the 4 side of the pieced border on too.
Instead of just having orange squares in the corners I am going to put some pink stars to match the ones in the quilt, and since I didn't feel like doing that last night, I quit on that project.

While walking over some of my helpers tonight......
I finished straightening my shelves out so now the stash is nice and neat....at least until the next box arrives.

Here is my neutrals with colors on the bottom (Bonnie string fabrics I call them) along with a small stack of Christmas fabrics on the left, and above them my whites and off whites, then my white to gray to black fat quarters on top of the black on whites, and grays. With the last pile being the white on black to black then colors on black, and then BIG black yardage pieces on the bottom.
Then above those shelves I have My purples, my cat and dogs fabric pile and a small pile of batiks. Then 2 shelves of blue with jelly rolls and Bali Pops and Tonga Treats on top.
Then the other shelf unit holds the rest of the rainbow. Pinks and reds on top shelf, with my little pile of orange and then my yellows, and my tans and browns next. 3rd shelf has green to teal, and then LOTS of turquoise. The shelf below that ( no pic) holds all the crazy colored stuff. Then on top is all those bundles of fat quarters just waiting for the plastic to be broken.
Oh and I found the PERFECT piece of fabric for the back of my Christmas strings quilt yesterday too. I scored 5 yards of it for only $15.18 with tax. Savings was $35.72 on the receipt!
It matches perfectly too. So that one will be getting finished hopefully next week while I am off of work, and dear hubby is working!!! Well I am off to Christmas at the Fair to work our Quilt Guild's booth we have there. May your bobbins be full and you get a lot of sewing done this weekend too.

More sewing, and cleaning, and ....

More STASH!!! Oh my, I must go on a fabric diet, soon! I think I will do that come 2013. Remember that Halloween Fabric sale I told you about.............my order arrived at my house 3 days later. All 40 yards of it. Doesn't the Fat Quarter Shop package it so purdy??!

Here it is all un-bagged and sorted by color, stacked so neatly. This is what 40 yards looks like, this pile is more than 12 inches tall.....I measured it!
Then a few days later I got my full box from Tonya over at Ozark Fabric on FB. Another 30+ yards. See all this wonderful fabric.
Here is my pile of Yenters..........I had to make a whole shelf just for these, because I will have LOTS more coming in February of the new line. Yippeeee. I am a Jason Yenter addict!
Here is my pile of bright blenders, rainbow style of course. Red, Orange, Lemon Yellow, Lime Green, darker green, Grayish, Chocolate, Rusty, Cream. I know she still has some of these left @ $4.00 a yard. Might have to get some more.
Then while I took a break from cleaning up the messing studio, I started working on those ladybug blocks. Trying to get all 20 finished since I don't know when in November we are suppose to meet to do the exchange. Merlin decided he was going to help me. Glad he wasn't a total brat and kept the neatly stacked piles he was laying on, in neatly stacked piles. He laid there and purrrrrrred, swatting at the fabric every once in a while.

I had read on Bonnie's blog about how black fabric is soooo saturated with dye that she alwayspre-washes her black......(I am not a pre-washer)..so I took out the bolt of Kona black I had, cut it into 2 yard pieces, and washed it all today. Gotta remember to get it off the line and put it back on the bolt. I actually did this after cleaning up...(keep reading), I am just too lazy to move the pic in the right order :D

Oh what a mess my room has become again. This is one of the tables before....what a nightmare!

After about 20 minutes of cleaning it up and putting things away.

The whole table. Doesn't this say "Hey come be creative!" ?

Then while I was on a cleaning streak, I grabbed the yellow scrap basket, and started cleaning it out. First ironing it all out........ Forgot to take a before pic, but I did empty the bin.........see.
Then I started cutting strips, or squares if I could. Then putting others into a strings pile, then crumbs, and the itty bitty stuff in the trash.
Then I started on the purple bin.......before
after it was all ironed and sorted for cutting.
So now the yellow is 100% scrap system organized, and the purples are awaiting to be trimmed and homed to the right bin. 25 + years worth of scraps I am determined to get them all done soon. Will be easier to work on when they are in strips or squares. Lets see, I have pinks, red, oranges, green, black, brown, multi, 2 HUGE blue bins, 1 HUGE white bin too. I think I will keep going with the little ones, so I feel like I am getting somewhere before trying to tackle the blue and white bins. At least then I will know I only have those 3 left and they are all done, so it won't seem so bad. I can probably make an entire quilt top from those 3 bins only. In fact maybe I will try........to see how far they go. A challenge for 2013 I think?!

I also finished the top on the Pink n Orange one, the borders are all pieced and waiting to be attached. Camera battery died so no pics. I will try to attach the two later and take pics of it. It looks awesome. Love the color combination!

Well it is 10am finally, and I think it has warmed up enough outside I am going to go wash my truck, so I can shower and start the day. I see more sewing going on later today too.

What a week.............

What a week it has been.......my 16 muddy feet all lived up to their name this week. Everyday they kept getting out of the yard, and headed straight for the lake while we were at work. They ran around the neighborhood like a pack of lunatics!! That is what they are when they think we aren't looking.  Well the first day they dug a hole. The next day they knocked off more fence boards. Then they somehow got out a gate that was locked. Then they got out same gate that was DOUBLE locked. What the heck!!!

Then the next day out same gate double locked, but this time I see they ripped out the screws, so we bought much longer screws...see the pretty black ones??  Then they got out next day, by breaking old hinge in half!! So that pick shows pretty new hinge too!  By now we are tired of fixing this problem so dear hubbie also puts in a second bar into concrete to help keep this lunatics in the yard......see dark new rod?

And then he buys a new huge barrel bolt too.
Well you are not going to believe what they did today?

They got out again!!!!!!!!!!
By CHEWING THROUGH the gate!!!!! OH MY!!!! So we bought hardware cloth today, metal mesh with 1/4 inch holes in it. That is tomorrows project....

All this while dealing with dear hubbie and many different doctors and specialists. Bottom line to make a long story short. He is 43 and we just found out he has a huge tumor in his colon and he will need surgery probably week after next. So I haven't done too much sewing this week at all. But this is what I am working on today.

This is the fabric selection I have picked to work on the Dorinda Mystery Quilt. I am going to try and finish the first block tonight, so watch for it.

These are my two shelves I just added to my sewing room and rearranged all my fabric on. My stash is so organized now.  I have started to stack on the jeans on that shorter bookshelf on the right, and need to go through all those papers on the bottom shelf, what a mess that shelf is. I will get more pictures of my room as I finish it up.       What are you working on this week???
