Great Granny QAL has started

So you get woke up at 4am............what do you do, knowing it is your day off. You go get busy in the sewing room while everyone else is still sleeping. I grabbed this stack of fabric and got busy. I only used 39 out of about 50. First to the ironing board to get those fat quarters ironed.

Then to the cutting table to chop me up some 2.5" squares, LOTS of them. Lets see 13 squares, times 13 blocks, times 3 sets equals....507. I guess that is right. All organized in this shoe box, from cutting.

Then paired them all up into 39 different blocks with no repeats of fabric combinations or patterns either. Here is the first set of 13 blocks.

All pretty in a box, waiting for me to sew, sew, sew, sew and sew some more.

Here is one laid out without the background yet. Haven't pressed or cut that yet, it is next. All cut out so I can't back out now, well I could. I would just be adding lots of 2.5" squares to my little bin. But nope, they are in waiting.

This is going to look really good when it is done. Don't know how big it will be, or if I will end up making one or two quilts, who knows, maybe 3. We will see.

Oh yeah, I also cleaned half the studio, got everything picked up off the floor, that took at least 45 minutes in itself, and then I vacuumed...........wow what a difference that made. The cats and dogs were lost without all the fabric scraps all over the floor. Riley even pulled a huge stack of fabric off the shelf, and carried a few feet away, and then laid down using it as a pillow. He got mad and left the room when I took it and put it back on the shelf. Didn't think to take a photo of it before I grabbed it from him.

That's a LOT of cutting today! Way to be motivated so early in the day.

That would be so awesome to start sewing at that time of the day without disturbing anyone. Haha that sounds rather funny. The poor unsuspecting pile of fabric =D

What time do you go to bed to wake at 4? I can never wake up that early, but I stay up until 10:30-11 half the time the night before! :/

I think your color choices and patterns for your quilt are great!
