Super sewing Sunday

Well today is Super Bowl Sewing Sunday. Woo Hoo!! Dear Hubbies surgery is early in the morning, so he will be staying close to the toilet.  Since today's project is done, and the electric fence is electrified, all I have left to do is sew, sew, and sew some more.

I found another quilt along if your interested in starting yet another project. Like I really need a hole in my head.......but what the heck. It is over at Amy's Passion and it is based on a quilt one of her Math 8 students created. They are calling it Raven stars. This is the drawing it is based on. It starts on the 9th of Feb. It is a 3 color quilt, light, medium and dark. Need to get rid of more scraps or more stash???

I am still doing good on the Fabric Diet & No Fab Feb. I was even at Jo-Ann's yesterday. Ran in grabbed the thread ( 50% off) that I needed and ran back out. Didn't even look at the fabric. I wanted some, but not  looking makes it easier to get out alive.

It is the 6th of February and I haven't bought one penny worth of groceries yet this month, so I am doing great on the Frugal Groceries for February too.

Haven't done too much sewing the past week, with the crazy lunatic dogs getting out everyday, spent soooo much time repairing all their escape routes. But the electric fence is up and working now. :D

Tomorrow I will be sitting in the hospital for hours on end, and since you can only read, and play on the Ipad so much and you get tired or bored. I made myself a project bag to take with me.  I spent an hour cutting out over 120 5 inch circles on the GO!. Took more time to unfold over 120 different fabrics than to actually cut them out.

Now I have to fold all that fabric back up, here I am holding all of it in my hand like a huge grocery sack. It was heavy too!!! What a mess that was. Doesn't look as neat back on the shelf either since I didn't follow the fold lines when I refolded it all.

Do you remember Turtle Bay, well here is that quilt top.....

and here is the back of it.....it is kinda hard to see the squares of a different fabric with that crazy bright blue.

Remember the monochromatic yellow one?

Here is the back of that one, using up most of the scraps I had leftover from the front. This month is purple. Did you see all those circles at the beginning of the blog? Won't be a quilt, but it will be purple. Who knows, I might get ambitious and do a purple quilt too. We like purple around here.
Block-A-Palooza (BAP) is in full swing, here are my blocks using the Sunkissed line by Moda. Here is Block 3

and Block 4 too.

Here are the first 4 all together..........

the next clue for Dorinda's has been published, but I haven't got it started yet. Not sure what I want to do yet.

I am slowly working on all my other UFO's WIP's and PhD's too. Need to start quilting them and calling them FINISHED!!!

RRCB is at the top of my list, still working on the string blocks and those HST's....:(

What have you been up to lately???

I have been very very busy..............

I have been very very busy this month. This was the first clue in the Dorinda Mystery that I am doing. Clue 2 is a secret at this time, so I can only show you a peek......................

So here it is>>> my theme is star in a star, I couldn't believe I actually had fabric that matched that! Watch for the whole block next time I post.

I also went from fat quarters to finished top for the Monochromatic challenge. Now I need to piece the back, and then service my machine to make sure it is running smoothly ( it is starting to make weird noises) then I get to quilt this one and the Turtle Bay quilt that I got the back done for as well. I forgot to take a photo of that.
The Layer Cake quilt along block 7 is out, and this is my block, it looks a little washed out in this photo. I am also still sewing string blocks from the RRCB, and still have close to 600 HST's to do too!!!

Block-A-Palooza started on Monday they are posting new blocks every Monday and Thursday. I am going to sew those two blocks as soon as I get this post done.

Are you doing any of these challenges?? Or any others that you would like to share??

What a week.............

What a week it has been.......my 16 muddy feet all lived up to their name this week. Everyday they kept getting out of the yard, and headed straight for the lake while we were at work. They ran around the neighborhood like a pack of lunatics!! That is what they are when they think we aren't looking.  Well the first day they dug a hole. The next day they knocked off more fence boards. Then they somehow got out a gate that was locked. Then they got out same gate that was DOUBLE locked. What the heck!!!

Then the next day out same gate double locked, but this time I see they ripped out the screws, so we bought much longer screws...see the pretty black ones??  Then they got out next day, by breaking old hinge in half!! So that pick shows pretty new hinge too!  By now we are tired of fixing this problem so dear hubbie also puts in a second bar into concrete to help keep this lunatics in the yard......see dark new rod?

And then he buys a new huge barrel bolt too.
Well you are not going to believe what they did today?

They got out again!!!!!!!!!!
By CHEWING THROUGH the gate!!!!! OH MY!!!! So we bought hardware cloth today, metal mesh with 1/4 inch holes in it. That is tomorrows project....

All this while dealing with dear hubbie and many different doctors and specialists. Bottom line to make a long story short. He is 43 and we just found out he has a huge tumor in his colon and he will need surgery probably week after next. So I haven't done too much sewing this week at all. But this is what I am working on today.

This is the fabric selection I have picked to work on the Dorinda Mystery Quilt. I am going to try and finish the first block tonight, so watch for it.

These are my two shelves I just added to my sewing room and rearranged all my fabric on. My stash is so organized now.  I have started to stack on the jeans on that shorter bookshelf on the right, and need to go through all those papers on the bottom shelf, what a mess that shelf is. I will get more pictures of my room as I finish it up.       What are you working on this week???

Found another mystery quilt project

To all my friends in blog land, that want to use up scraps and stash...I have found yet another mystery project over at Daughters of Dorinda . Sounds fun and interesting, so I am going to try and keep up with this one as well, let me know if you are going to try it too.
